On The Web

Let’s catch up.

It’s been 3 months (to the day!) since I last posted so I figure it’s time to catch up! It’s been a great, warm summer and I really couldn’t have asked for more. I’ve been keeping myself busy and staying out of trouble (for the most part). Magic has kept me on my toes and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

In May I went to the annual national magic convention. The last time I had this opportunity was in 2007 so I was rather excited. This year it was held in Hamilton Ontario. Thank God it was only a couple days long because living in Hamilton for even that short while made me want to cry. Perhaps I’m just used to the hustle and bustle of a larger city, but for some unknown reason, Hamilton just made me really depressed. Lots of crazy people and the ghetto stores downtown just weren’t doing it for me. Thankfully the convention kept me going. I got to see some very memorable lectures including one by Michael Finney. He was great during his performance at the Gala show on the last night as well. Of course meeting Shawn Farquhar – one of Canada’s greatest magicians – was also a great highlight. From the few seconds I got to talk to him, I realized this guy was just so genuine. Not only is he a great magician, he is one of the most down to earth people I have ever met. I am proud to have such a Canadian at the top of his game- and look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

I performed multiple times throughout the summer but just this last weekend I got to do my first proposal! I was hired to help a gentleman propose to his girlfriend. I won’t give away all the secrets but she was in tears and she said yes!

I also was featured on the cover of one of Canada’s largest South Asian magazines called “Desi News”. Feel free to head over to the “In the News” section of the website to see the cover and article. I’ll also have a short appearance on a South Asian, national television show called V-Mix, airing this Sunday night at 7:30pm on OMNI2. Make sure you catch that, but in case you don’t, I’ll have it posted here shortly!

Now of course summer wouldn’t be summer without one of my favorite shows, America’s Got Talent! This year on AGT, for the first time ever (that I can remember), we have a mentalist! Mentalism is a branch of magic that is focused on powers of the mind and thoughts more so than visual “stunts”. Not only is Erick Dittelman a great mentalist, but he’s been recently winning over the hearts of the judges as well and I hope to see him continue. I leave you with a short clip of Mr. Dittelman.

Until we meet again!
