Global TV Winnipeg

When they say Winnipeg is COLD, in the middle of winter, they aren’t kidding; but at least you don’t have to worry about musquitos! I spent five nights in Winnipeg in late January and found myself on the Global Television Breakfast Program briefly one morning. In case you missed the clip, you can find it below. Enjoy!

Merry Christmas, Happy New year… and Happy Valentine’s!

I know, it’s been almost FIVE months since I updated my blog so please do forgive me. A lot has happened and I trust you’re enjoying 2014.

The pilot show we shot back in late summer last year – “Think About It” – is now being worked on with a production company. If it eventually gets picked up by a network, we will be on to bigger things with it and be able to create more exciting episodes. In case you missed it (?!) – Check it out the sizzle reel.

In late October I had my first International gig! I was flown out to Qatar to perform at a two-day corporate event. This was an eye opening experience for me as I’ve never traveled to the Middle East before. Performing in a suit in 40 degree weather was not easy. Thankfully I stayed in the hotel and conference center during most of the daylight hours. I had a few days to check out the capital city, Doha. The hot desert sun was soothing closer to the evening and rather enjoyable. I look forward to performing in the Middle East again in the future. (see picture below) As great as Qatar was, I’m looking forward to my next gig outside of the Canada in a couple of weeks. A wedding in Detroit on Family Day long weekend! Oh you’re worried about my safety in Detroit? I’m a magician… how bad could it be?! 😐

November and December are always fun. Performing at family parties and corporate events is one of my favorite things to do. As busy as the holiday season can be, I’m glad January is about over. From my family to yours, best wishes for the new year.

New TRAILER: Think About It!

A few weeks ago, I worked with a producer to make a pilot episode of a new show/documentary called Think About It. The goal of the show was to challenge viewers to think about seemingly impossible occurrences. Although I’ve never claimed to have psychic or mystical powers, I wanted to show something that seemed absolutely impossible. We shot for 12 hours straight in the best city in the world- Toronto. The pilot is still in production but here is a trailer for the show that went live recently. This is by far, the biggest project I’ve ever worked on and the one I’m most excited for! Stay tuned to see where and when the finished product can be viewed.

Bao and Jenny’s Wedding

I love performing at all sorts of events. Some of my favorites are weddings. Last Saturday, I had the privilege to perform at Bao and Jenny’s wedding in Toronto. The weather, bride and scenery all looked beautiful. I guess Bao looked alright too. I find there’s something about weddings that makes every problem in the world disappear for that instance in time. This was no exception- and it certainly was magical. You could definitely feel the love between the newly weds and their families. The couples in the audience held hands tightly while beautiful music serenaded the crowd. As I started to day dream in the gorgeous setting, the vows were said and it was quickly my time to shine.

Congratulations Bao and Jenny.

A little magic in the Big Apple

I watched The Great Gatsby last week and it reminded me how magical New York City is. I thought about how it would have been to live there in the 20’s. I remember reading the book when I was in high school – I never would have imagined that when the movie would be created, it’d have music featured by Jay-z in it. But it totally makes sense. Who better to feature musically in the movie, than the king of hip hop, Jay-z himself – who happens to be from NY City.

Coincidentally, I was in NYC a few weeks ago for a wedding. It was nice to be back in the city I don’t think I could ever get sick of. While I was at a local bar, I couldn’t help but share some wonder with the locals. Some of it was caught on cell phone video.

Enjoy,

Magical Proposal

Earlier this month, I was part of an amazing event. I got a call from a girl named Priya who wanted to hire me for a surprise 25th birthday for her boyfriend, Varun. We set everything up and everything was supposed to run smoothly as we had planned. A week later, I receive a call from a gentleman stating his name is Varun. He goes on to tell me that he has found out I will be performing at his surprise party, but he wants to reverse the surprise on his girlfriend that same night! Varun has decided he will be proposing to his girlfriend the night of his 25th birthday- and he wants a little help from me. The events of the night were caught on tape by a cell phone camera. I include it below for your entertainment.

A video I shot recently but never got a chance to post it up on my magic blog! Just a little fun I had walking around the streets of downtown Toronto with a video camera.
